WELCOME TO THE CHURCH FAMILY!
We are glad that you are interested in becoming a Full Member of the First United Methodist Church of Olney, Texas. Taking the step to become a member is an important one in your faith journey and we are here to assist you in the process. There are several ways that you can join. If you have never been a member of a church family before, then you will join by Profession of Faith. If you are currently a member of another church, you will join by Transfer of Membership. Please know that no matter how you join, we are glad that you are part of this church family and the staff is here to help you in this process.
You can join on any Sunday by coming forward at the close of the worship service to meet with the pastor. You can also set up a time to visit with the pastor and talk about joining and to decide on a date.
Please contact the church office if you have questions or would like to schedule a time to visit with the pastor.
How to Join
Profession of Faith – If you have never joined a church before we will receive you into membership by Profession of Faith. This is a moment to profess your faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior and your intent to live a Christian life. If you have not been baptized, you will receive the Sacrament of Holy Baptism at this same time.
Transfer from Another Denomination – If you are a member of a protestant church, or the Catholic Church, we recognize your Profession of Faith and Baptism in those denominations. We believe that your coming to join this church family is a statement of renewal of your faith in Jesus Christ. We will notify your previous church of your decision to unite with First United Methodist Church of Olney as a courtesy to that church.
Transfer from Another United Methodist Church – We are happy to receive you by transfer from another United Methodist Church. We are happy to have you join this church family and will notify your previous church of your decision to unite with First United Methodist Church of Olney as a courtesy to that church.
